Create a table-based lookup list

Permissions: You must be a Collect Administrator, or hold the Create Lookup List permission.

  1. On the Collect home page, click Lookup Lists in the menu bar.
  2. Click New Lookup List.
  3. Assign a view name. It must start with a letter, be alphanumeric, and contain no spaces. The only special character allowed is _.
  4. Under Lookup List Type, select Table-Based. (Query-Based is the default.)

Creating a new lookup list.

You can switch between Table-Based and Query-Based freely until you save — after that, the type is locked. If you've already started adding a field or a query, switching types shows a changes-detected modal; it won't appear if you've only entered a view name or made no other changes.

  1. Click Add Field to define fields, the same way you would for an app's Main table — lookup lists don't have subsets, but every other control is the same (Display Label, Column Name, Required, Unique ID, Data Type, Max Length, Precision, Default Value, and Help Text).
  2. Click Save.
