If you work with one or more carriers in a delegated relationship, use Clearpath to generate rosters of producer data and share them with carriers.

Each carrier may require a different roster format for submission. A roster-template builder in Clearpath lets you format rosters according to each carrier's specifications, including:

  • How columns are named and formatted
  • How objects are linked
  • How fields are included and sorted

Then you can export rosters as a CSV files and share them with carriers.

Clearpath also helps you maintain your roster lists. Add, remove, or update a producer's appointment with a specific carrier through a guided user interface:

About delegated appointment authority

Delegated appointment authority is a process where a carrier (e.g., insurance company) grants a managing general agent (MGA) the authority to appoint producers on its behalf. This enables the carrier to accept business written by a producer, like when a customer buys a policy and the application is bound under the carrier. This arrangement streamlines the appointment process, reduces duplication of effort, and speeds up the time it takes for producers to start writing business for a carrier.

Steps include:

  1. Vet and approve producers.

  2. Generate a roster of appointed producers for each carrier.

  3. Share the roster with the carrier, who adds the appointed producers to their producer management system and authorizes them to write business.

About rosters

A roster is a comprehensive list of all producers who have been appointed by an MGA. The MGA sends a carrier a roster, which the carrier uses to verify that the qualifications of producers meet appointment standards so the producer can start writing business.

MGAs periodically update the roster to reflect changes in producer status, such as new hires, terminations, or changes in licensing. These updates ensure that carriers have current information about the producers appointed under them.

Producer information included on a roster

Roster requirements may vary by carrier. You can include any of the following producer information:

  • General identity and contact information
  • Licensing
  • Education
  • Lines of authority and designations
  • National Producer Number (NPN)
  • Carrier writing numbers
  • Errors and omissions (E&O) coverage
  • Territory and book of business info
  • Accepting new business status
  • Appointment date
